From late December through early May, thousands of humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii. Catch a glimpse of the magnificent mammals on a whale-watching excursion from Waikiki. Venture out on the water with a small group of people to witness the humpback whales breach, play or feed around you.
Your guide guarantees sightings, and in the rare event that you don’t see any supersize stars, you get to do the tour again for free!

Depart from your Waikiki or Ko Olina hotel for a short ride to Kewalo Basin Harbor (Waikiki departure) or Waianae Harbor (Ko Olina departure). Exploring the Big Island’s Kona Coast on Captain Zodiac’s 24-foot “RIBs” is the experience of a lifetime! For 38 years, Captain Zodiac has introduced visitors to an array of natrure’s secret wonders that can only be experienced in a Zodiac Raft. The small group atmosphere of our expedition allows for a personal and intimate tour. Your captains/naturalists will tell stories of Hawaiian history and culture, island geology, and many marine species that you will encounter - and, for purposes of this trip, that will mainly be spinner dolphins.  If the conditions are right you'll get to meet them up close and personal, in the water!

Imagine your first sighting of a pod of Hawaiian spinner dolphins.  They swim effortlessly along in large groups called "pods."  Our Zodiac approaches cautiously and then, suddenly, there they are, amazingly close, right next to the raft.  Your Captain, careful not to disturb them, follows along as they circle their resting area.  You suit up in to mask and fins and then gently slip over the side.  Having been briefed on proper protocol, you gently float in the vicinity of the dolphin pod, hoping they will approach.  Then - it happens!  The pod moves closer and you see them gliding along beneath you.  You see a keiki (young baby) dolphin keeping close to its mother.  You hear the "clicks" of their sonar and it seems like they are looking right at you!  The Wild Dolphin Encounter is a unique experience.  Hawaii's spinner dolphins are a close knit family unit.  Pods of dolphins frequent the Kona coast waters taking time to rest during the day before their nocturnal feeding schedule.
